Luna Buzzetta – 15-year old female DSH cat with stage 4 chronic kidney disease, advanced hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure

Photobiomodulation (PBMT) treatment under Dr. Hirschberg’s supervision has been a game-changer for Luna. She has been battling advanced CKD and HCM / CHF since late June 2022, and I started at-home PBMT treatment in mid-December 2022. I wish I had started earlier because PBMT has vastly improved her quality of life in terms of appetite, energy levels, and overall demeanor. 

Within a week of starting PBMT, Luna started playing vigorously and having the “zoomies” again after having a much lower energy level for five months since diagnosis of CHF and CKD. In addition, I believe PBMT has helped control Luna’s blood pressure and anemia – two conditions that often plague cats with advanced CKD but Luna has managed to avoid. 

Even though her diseases are severe, her symptoms are managed so well that many who see her believe she looks like a healthy middle-aged cat and not a “super senior” with such difficult-to-treat comorbidities. I’m grateful for having such quality time with her at this stage.
